"I closed my eyes and listened carefully for the descendants of Sputnik, even now circling the earth, gravity their only tie to the planet. Lonely metal souls in the unimpeded darkness of space, they meet, pass each other, and part to never meet again. No words passing between them. No promises to keep."

— Haruki Murakami

A bit about this website ...

What exactly is specbebop? First and foremost, it's a song by Yo La Tengo. Some would argue that it's one of the weaker songs on their brilliant album I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One. I think it's an amazing song.

People often ask me why I have a personal web site. I can't really explain it, but I just like to have a little space for myself. This web site is a way for me to archive my movement through time. Time confounds me. This is how I deal with time and personal history. Someday it'll all vanish, but that's okay with me. Until that day I'll post an occasional record review, maybe a photo of moped man, my thoughts on nothing in particular, a video of the drunks that call the train station across from my apartment home, or if I'm feeling up to it, a new song.

Enjoy.
