"When you see such photos, you can't help but wonder at just how sweet and sad and innocent all moments of life are rendered by the tripping of a camera's shutter, for at that point the future is still unknown and has yet to hurt us, and also for that brief moment, our poses are accepted as honest."

On Saturday S. and I went to Ravinia to see Diana Krall. It had been a gorgeous day. We started off with a five mile run and then we went for a bike ride to Whole Foods which was an adventure. I thought it would be fun to take the scenic route along the lake. However, I completely forgot how North Ave. isn't very bike friendly. I thought S was going to kill me for leading her to near death a few times (not to mention the time I turned left without telling her and we almost crashed -- I'm sorry). Still, we made it to Whole Foods but took a different way back. Then we ran a few more errands to prepare for our picnic at Ravinia. We made it to Ravinia without any problems. Just after feasting on some great food, and right after opening our second bottle of wine, the rain began. Oh well, we still had a great time.

On Sunday Zerostars tracked one of our oldest songs called Honey at Fat Recording Studios. It's been a really long time since we recorded anything to two-inch tape...

Congratulations to my brother Chris and sister-in-law Jackie on the birth of their daughter Emma!

Congratulations to S on the running of her ninth marathon last Saturday. It was great to see her as she crossed the finish line. Next up, the Bar Harbor Marathon which is in October.

Another fantastic weekend with S...

On Friday we hung out in Chicago's best kept secret, Berwyn. On Saturday we went to see Away We Go at the Landmark, then walked down to Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder where we drank some beers and featsed, then we met up with the Moodys at Tiny Lounge for some drinks and then we finished the night at Julius Meinl. On Sunday S and I went for an eight mile run (which is the longest distance I've run since the marathon in February). It kind of kicked my ass, but in a good way. Then we walked to Midsummerfest in Andersonville and stopped off for a pint of beer at the Hopleaf. We finished the night making a delicious provencal pizza with goat cheese.
