On Tuesday night, over a bottle of wine and a couple croque madames (and between the wait staff removing the bread crumbs from our table), I asked Sara to marry me. She said yes! I couldn't be more blessed. Such a crazy good feeling. Sara has changed my life in such a beautiful way and she means the world to me. I can't imagine a more wonderful person to spend the rest of my life with. Each day I am thankful to be able to share my life with her and I am thankful that she shares her life with me. And I'm madly in love with her!

Could these bands be the future of rock? On June 14, the Palatine Park District hosted its annual battle of the bands competition at Cutter Hall. Nineteen years ago, my old band Bermans & Arrival was one of the bands battling it out for the glory of rock & roll. While we didn't win, I'm pretty certain we took second place. Months later we won the Arlington Heights Frontier Days battle of the bands. Good times.
I have to say, I was pretty impressed by the kids. There was one band that was pretty damn good, but I can't recall their name. They really seemed to have their act together and they knew how to really work the stage.
It was great to spend some time with Dan and Jason. Afterwards, we walked over to the music shell where we competed to relive our old glory.

I love this series of Sara...

Fearful that all of my external drives are going to crash someday, I've been backing up my gigantic archives. It's a slow process. I have five external hard drives. What I'm most concerned about is losing my RAW photo files. So, I've been burning DVD backup copies, which I suppose I should do every four gigabytes of memory. This is an old shot from 2007 and one of my personal favorites. I've posted it before. I did some slight retouching to make it pop a bit more.

Last night She & Him played at Millennium Park. Gorgeous night for a summer concert outside. She & Him sounded fantastic.

The lawn was packed, so what does this genius decide to do? Carry her bike through all the people. Brilliant.

I don't think they were at the concert.

I tried to get Sara to check this out, but she just wasn't in the mood.

I think the cover is pretty awesome. I especially like the grey hand.

Last night we went to the Golden Steer in Forest Park for an old school dining experience. Lots of fun, and the food was pretty good.
