Hot chocolate part two...

And other things...

10.28.08

Whip cream is really hard to work with and light properly, especially when it's melting into the hot chocolate. Not really a good photo. I'll try again tomorrow.

Sometimes I misread things. I just thought I read the following headline on cnn.com:
"Mom Accused of Taking Girl to Edge of Solar System"
I wish someone would take me to the edge of the solar system.

Sunday nights.
Weird not running the Chicago Marathon today. Not like I was training for it, but I did run it the last four years. However, I did go for an eight mile run. I started my run at the same time the marathon started. By the time I completed eight miles, the elite marathon runners were already at mile 20.

Introducing the amazing monkey waiters. It's only a matter of time before we are all replaced by monkey waiters...
Washington Times Op-Ed Columnist Anne Applebaum has a great piece on Palin's Imaginary Washington.
Don't get me wrong; populism can be a fine thing: It's healthy for a democracy to renew itself. It's also absolutely true that many of our greatest leaders have had obscure origins, and many of our worst have had Ivy League educations. But Sarah Palin, though she may be an arresting and compelling cultural phenomenon, seems to rail against a nonexistent "Washington" because it's easier than making any actual arguments. Her phony, made-for-TV populism is a terrible distraction in a time of genuine crisis.

Thomas L. Friedman, foreign-affairs columnist for the New York Times, has an excellent Op-Ed piece on Sarah Palin's patriotism that is worth a read:
At least the king of Saudi Arabia, in advocating “drill baby drill,” is serving his country’s interests — by prolonging America’s dependence on oil. My problem with Palin is that she is also serving his country’s interests — by prolonging America’s dependence on oil. That’s not patriotic. Patriotic is offering a plan to build our economy — not by tax cuts or punching more holes in the ground, but by empowering more Americans to work in productive and innovative jobs. If Palin has that kind of a plan, I haven’t heard it.
After ten days of not running due to a nasty cold, I finally got out for a quick three mile run. Felt really great.

""Keating Economics: the Making of a Financial Crisis" is a documentary that shows why John McCain's failed philosophy and poor judgment are a recipe for deepening the economic crisis."

We're all doomed if McCain wins the 2008 Presidential Election. Palin is a complete idiot. Seriously, a complete idiot without one single idea that is her own. She offers up nothing but a bunch of empty slogans. If you have some extra cash, donate to Obama's 2008 Campaign.
