Yesterday it was models, today it is clowns. Never a dull moment on specbebop.com. I wish that my nokton 50 f1.2 wasn't in the shop being fixed as I would have loved to have shot some b&w of the clown. I tend to prefer the photos were he looks a little sad.

A new low... Even though I don't like clowns I decided to smile.

Back from a fantasically wonderful trip out to Maine. While there I ate lots of great food, spent time with my parents and Caffrey and ran a little marathon called the Mt. Desert Island Marathon with the best running partner ever (very blessed to have her in my life). Such a memorable trip!

And these are a few of my favorite of Sara...

Last night Jason and I went to see Jolie Holland and Matt Baur at Schubas. About a minute into Jolie's first song she stopped and asked for less picture taking. Luckily I nailed a few shots... I thought it was a pretty good show.

Before the show I developed two rolls of tri-x 400 shot at 400 in HC 110. I don't know, results weren't as good as the diafine, or maybe just no complelling shots. Then again, I haven't scanned everything. Taken with a Besa R2A and the Nokton f1.1.

The following were taken with my little Canonete QL17 last September. It's taken a year for me to learn how to develop film. I think these turned out pretty okay.

On Monday night I developed my very first roll of tri-x film. After emailing back and forth with an old coworker he told me to try Acufine. Not being able to find any Acufine locally, I bought Diafine. What's great about Diafine is that it is rated at 1600 for tri-x, which is exactly what I had recently shot a roll of film at.
After mixing all the chemicals I began the process, which wasn't difficult at all. About 30 minutes later I pulled the developed roll out of the tank and was elated as everything worked! Now I'm sure someone would have issues with how these look, but I think they turned out pretty okay. Pardon the scans as my scanner wasn't very clean. These were all taken with a Besa R2A and a Nokton f1.1 (sadly, I had to send my Nokton back for repair on Monday as the focus ring came loose -- not to happy about that -- but it's a killer lens).

Last week I took some C41 film to the lab, along with two rolls of tri-x. Yesterday I picked up the C41 negatives but the tri-x negatives hadn't been developed, so I asked for them back. When the clerk asked why I said, "Because I can do it myself." Plus, at $10 a roll, that's kind of pricey and they were taking their sweet time getting it done. I'm kind of happy that I took them back because I wasn't very impressed with the results from the C41.
Here are a few shots from the C41. The first two are Kodak C41 b&w. I have to say that I find C41 b&w really disappointing. The final shot from the forest is possibly Kodak Ektar 100 (or maybe it's 200).

Congratulations to my brother for kicking some serious ass at the 2009 Chicago Marathon yesterday. I was jealous (being that I would have loved to be one of the runners -- but so very much looking forward to running the Bar Harbor, Maine marathon with Sara next weekend), but so happy see him as he kicked it into gear at mile 26. Here are some random photos from the race.

Chris is in the yellow shirt with blue hat. Taken at mile 26.

Last night I discovered an Argus slide projector with slides in the closet at my grandma's house. Here are a few of the ones that I have scanned in..

From plane pulling to support Ronald McDonald House, to Apple Hollar in Wisconsin, to an outstanding dinner at Durado (best bread pudding ever), to sleeping in, to a 12 mile run and to finishing up homemade chile, it's been a pretty wonderful weekend!
